Insurance 1st Time Driversinsurance 1st time driversForum - Questions & AnswersWhat is the best car insurance company for 1st time drivers UK?Question: Hi, I am 24 and I have had my lisence for about 6 months now! Insurance is soooooo high for this age range and not having much previos experience. What insureers would you suggest to first time drivers? ThanksAnswer: there is no one-company-fits-all when it comes to car insurance since all companies view things differently. The best thing to do is shop around. Use all the comparison sites you can, try other insurers which aren't listed and even then, haggle! Some companies target young drivers and say they give you the best prices....... doesn't mean they actually do though! the best thing to do is read this article: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/compare-cheap-car-insurance is explained most of the ways of buying cheaper car insurance. (The little video is good too) BEWARE: Lying about anything to make it cheaper can invalidate your insurance. That means you're effectively driving without valid insurance, which is illegal. Eg. Keeping your car in a locked garage can save you money.... but if you don't have a garage and say you do - they will find out eventually (if your car get's stolen for example!) Good luck! Like I said in your other question, give me an email if you get stuck. It can be scary first time (and i'm 23 myself :-) ) ![]() 1st time drivers license /florida insurance question?Question: i am trying to get my license in a couple of weeks. i am not going to be getting a car until maybe 6 months. until then i planned to drive my moms car. my dad says that i cant because "I" dont have insurance. i thought only the car was supposed to have insurance. is individual insurance required in order to drive by myself with my license?? if anyone has any links with the proof or explanations, so that i could show my dad that would be great. thanks. will it cost anything to add my name to their policy after i get my license? will they just have to call the company to let them know to add me?Answer: If you are getting your license in a couple of weeks as you say, then I assume you have a permit. Contrary to the answers provided, you must look at your parents auto policy application. It will either require them to: 1) list all licensed drivers in the household or; 2) list all persons over the age of (usually) 15. If your parents fail to do what is required, you drive the vehicle, and get in a wreck, there is a strong likelihood there will be no coverage. If your parents 'simply' call up and add you to the policy as some suggest, it won't be that easy. There will be a steep increase in premiums, guaranteed. ![]() Cheapest insurance company for 1st time male driver under 25 years?Question: I have a male friend who is 23 years old. Will be buying a car (four door/blue) but since he's a first time driver, the rates will be very high. However, is there an insurance company out there that is more reasonable? We're in Maryland. Any references?Answer: If he is just getting started his best bet is to get added on someone elses policy for a year if possible. The only way you could do this is if the car being purchased is jointly titled. One of the main reasons his own policy will be so expensive is insurance companies look at having prior insurance. Most companies consider having a lapse in coverage the same as never having it before. I would call several agents for quotes if he absolutely needs to have his own policy - http://www.findlocalinsurance.com ![]() |
