What is the best car insurance company for 1st time drivers UK?

1st time drivers license /florida insurance question?

Question: i am trying to get my license in a couple of weeks. i am not going to be getting a car until maybe 6 months. until then i planned to drive my moms car. my dad says that i cant because "I" dont have insurance. i thought only the car was supposed to have insurance. is individual insurance required in order to drive by myself with my license?? if anyone has any links with the proof or explanations, so that i could show my dad that would be great. thanks. will it cost anything to add my name to their policy after i get my license? will they just have to call the company to let them know to add me?

Answer: If you are getting your license in a couple of weeks as you say, then I assume you have a permit. Contrary to the answers provided, you must look at your parents auto policy application. It will either require them to: 1) list all licensed drivers in the household or; 2) list all persons over the age of (usually) 15. If your parents fail to do what is required, you drive the vehicle, and get in a wreck, there is a strong likelihood there will be no coverage. If your parents 'simply' call up and add you to the policy as some suggest, it won't be that easy. There will be a steep increase in premiums, guaranteed.
