G2 Insurance?

Question: I'm working on getting my G2 license, but once I get it, will I have to get insurance? If I'm not driving, nobody would ever know that I don't have insurance, right? I want to have my license so that when I *can* afford insurance, I'll be able to drive.

Answer: in canada specifically ontario if you have a licence but are not driving any vehicles then you do not need insurance 1 if you are currently driving someones vehicle but do not have your own vehicle or insurance you are not covered. 2 if you have a licence and are driving you have to be on the policy of the car that you are driving regardless. * except driving schools 3 if you are not driving at all then what is the point of insurance you olny need insurance if you are driving the occasional drivers clause is only for licenced drivers with their own insurance policy on their own car **Do not get pulled over without your name on the pink little insurance card!!!!** or else your screwed

How to save money in car insurance for g2 lic?

Question: When a person got new g2 driving lic,if he buys a car,what are the possible way to get car insurance low premium,covering all the feautures of security and standards.

Answer: If you are talking about an Ontario G2 licence then they only viable ways to reduce the cost of your vehicle insurance are: 1) Take an approved driver's education course; and/or 2) Buy a older vehicle that you can pay cash for and insure it for liability only, no Collision or Comprehensive coverage.

If I get my g2 will my parents insurance rise?

Question: I would like to get my g2 in october, but not get insurance and start driving alone until november. Would this raise my parents insurance from just getting my g2. Also, if i have an 80% avg at midterm, will it lower the cost of insurance? If yes then would a 90 avg lower the insurance cost even more?

Answer: With a G1 you are not listed on your parents policy but once you get your G2 you will need to be added as you are now officially licensed. Because you have not been driving you are a "new" driver and this fact impacts the premium associated with you... If you are planing to get your own vehicle /insurance in November then you can come off of your parents policy so the increase would only be for a month or so. Short answer - yes, their premium will go up if you are just getting your license. The amount of increase will vary depending on where you live, the type of vehicle on their policy as well as the coverage they have. Some companies will offer a "good student" discount. The rules will vary with the company and so you won't be able to to find out how much of a difference (if any) it will make until your parents talk to their company.
