At Fault Accident Torontoat fault accident torontoForum - Questions & AnswersHad a car accident in Toronto. Now I live in Montreal and want to insure a car!?Question: Hi, I had an at fault car accident in Toronto, Ontario almost 2 years ago in a car which does not belong to me. Now I live in Montreal and have transferred my license here. I recently bought a car and would like to insure it in Montreal. Does my accident in Toronto count or since it was not my car and I am in another province it does not apply? ThanksAnswer: When you fill out the application to buy insurance, there will be a question that will ask, have you been in an accident w/in the last 3 or 5 years? Your answer will be yes, since you were in a car accident that you were at fault. The fact that it was not your car has no merit, since the insurance company is looking at you and the type of risk you are in insuring. good luck ![]() I got a careless driving ticket in an at fault accident and i have to go to court, what should i do?Question: I had an accident in July '08 in Toronto. I was making a right turn and looking for my cell phone at the same time, I didn't straight the wheel on time, so I hit a parked car and both cars were damaged pretty bad. Thank God nobody was in my car or the other car. My insurance covered everything, so no problem with insurance. But, when the police officer asked me what happened, i was so nervous, i told him i was thinking of something. he said "if you didn't get a ticket in 30 days, you are good to go" Today after 3 months, an officer came to my place and give me a ticket for my careless driving which caused that accident and i have to go to court. There is no amount mentioned on the paper. just a court date. now, I don't know what to do! should I change the court day? will that officer from my accident come to the court? should I get a lawyer? please someone give me an advice!Answer: you have to go to court. if the date is not convenient then see if you can move the date but if you can't then you will have to go or you risk losing your license and being fined heavily. there is no monetary amount because the judge hasn't fined you yet. consult an attorney but if you are guilty and you can't get out of it then you have to pay the attorney as well as your fine. so it's your call there. I'm not sure about Canadian traffic laws. I know in Texas the judge may give you the option of defensive driving classes in lieu of a fine or for a lesser fine. your best bet would be to speak with someone who is more familiar with the laws of your area and how the courts in your area lean. Good Luck. ![]() at fault accident please reply ASAP?Question: insurance company so here is the scenario my dad had an at fault accident 6 months ago and he is listed as the primary driver and after two months i got in to an at fault accident now our insurance company cancelled our insurance due to being at high risk. i live in toronto canada is there any cheap insurance company that we can get our insurance from? also i had an speeding ticket of going 20km above possible speed which its court date is in summer. would the new insurance find out about my speeding ticket before my court date???Answer: Your best bet is to go to an insurance broker that works with a lot of difference companies and see who has the most competitive rates for people with your driving profile. I will tell you, with two at fault accidents over six months, it's going to be expensive regardless. be careful about reporting the ticket. If the company finds out that you withheld this information during the application process, they could drop you. ![]() |
