Ontario Car Insurance ForumOntario Car insurance forumForum - Questions & AnswersG2 3 day suspension - blood alchol content section 48?Question: Last night i was on a highway 7 in vaughan ontario travelling at around 90 km/h in a 70km/h zone so i was pulled over to the side of the road and questioned why i was going so fast. i explained i had to drop my friend off quick because his mom was mad. then the officer procceded to ask my friend if he has drank any alchol tonight my friend replied as yes and i replied as no. he asked me to take a roadside breathalizer test witch i did after confronting himof the reason of this which he stated your a g2 license holder and your friend was un the influence. i proceeded to fail the test with a warning and he suspeneded my license for 3 days and called mymom to pick up the car. I was given a total payout of 110 dollars as a ticket. on the notice of suspension i would just like to note that under date of birth he had put yesturdays date and he also claimed the year was 2010 when it is a 2005 just in case it has any sisgnificance. i am 17 years old and a g2 license holder. i was also wondering what my insurance rates would be like if i kept the ticket or i decided to fight it ( I am currently paying $990 for secondary insurance) and i was also wondering if it was any points taken off my license. i am also wondering why he did not charge me for speeding when he said that i was speeding. and also i read on other forums that if i am confivicted(pay the fine) i will be subject to a 30 day suspension. i dont not wish to cheat the law i just want to figure this out. Thank youAnswer: I was arrested for DUI in September 2008 in Ventura County, CA. My license was suspended for 6 months, I had to pay $2900 in fines, my insurance rates went up substantially, it negatively affected my driving record, had to attend 3 months of alcohol school and spent 48 hours in jail... and yes I was over 21. I was not an extreme case, I was pulled over for speeding but didn't get a ticket for it and I blew a .11 which is still not safe to drive but relatively low. Apparently Ventura County is the strictest in the state, I don't even live there. I live in the county directly to the north. If only I'd been 10 miles further up the road... everything would have been the same except my fines would have only been $1600... but that's a HUGE difference. This info probably wont help you much because you live in Canada but I would suspect that your penalty will be just as harsh considering Canada wont even let people who have a DUI in the states cross the boarder (that is if boarder patrol bothers to run their drivers license). ![]() |
