Major Car Insurance Companies

Should the major car insurance companies have an illegal immigrant clause ?

Question: Everytime they crash into someones car, they always get away with it and their victim usually end up footing the bill. I've seen them get away with accidents more than once. Belleza, you're funny.

Answer: While your concerns are heard, as everyone has pointed out the situation is basically covered in our system of veh. insurance. The thing not mentioned, is that our insurance RATES are high as a kite due to the inordinate numbers of people who are driving, doing damage and having no insurance. Hmmmmm, wonder who these people who are? I recently had about $1000 worth of prop damage done by what turned out to be an illegal. He hit and ran of course. But through some slick, dick detective work I found him. When the police confronted him, he lied and then finally admitted his wrong doing. With me insisting, they impounded his unregistered car, he was unlicensed and uninsured. With pressure on him going to jail, I got him to pay about $300. When I called my insurance rep, she told me not to file a claim as it was likely my rates would go up even higher. In the last 3 years my ins. rates (property) have gone up 20-30% yearly each year. I have never had any claims. Course this increase is likely due to Katrina disaster but still the agent assured me, the Ins. folks are getting creamed on illegal caused, uninsured motorist accidents. (Then there are the deaths. We've all heard more people die at the hands of Illgal immigrants daily in the US ...than in the Iraq war.) Compliments mostly of lllegal visitors who simply don't care about the rest of us. And we foolishly allow this to continue at our own peril.

Is there a list of rankings of top car insurance companies? What is a good car insurance company?

Question: I'm shopping for car insurance and want to look for reviews of all the major companies out there. I want competitive prices, but good customer service is top priority, such as not trying to find a way out of paying me if I have an accident and not raising my rates without my knowledge like some companies are rumored to do.

Answer: Look, very few companies try to "find a way out of paying you". All those stories you hear, are about people who tried to find a way to trick a lower rate out of the insurance company, and they got caught. It doesn't HAPPEN that way. Not all insurance companies write in all states. No one ranks them, by "good", as it's SO subjective. But you CAN check with your state insurance department website, to see which companies have the most COMPLAINTS. In general, State Farm writes the MOST auto insurance policies in the USA, and has the lowest PERCENTAGE of complaints. I also think that USAA does a bang up job, but you have to be active military or police, or retired military, or child of a retired military person, to qualify.

Car Insurance Companies + Excluding Drivers?

Question: My brother and I are trying to get insurance for our two cars but are having a problem with one of the cars. My uncle gave me my car but we never dealt with switching over the title of the car. Most of the major insurance companies require that the cars be under the name of one of us. We have found some smaller companies that do an exclusion to deal with the problem but the rates are higher. Does any body know of any major company that allows this to happen? Thanks for the help. One of the problems about changing the titles is that he now lives in wyoming and we dont have much contact with him. Can i mail him a form which he can sign or does he need to physically be there to change the title? thanks for the help.

Answer: No, most companies won't allow a driver exclusion form. They're afraid that they'll be dragged into a lawsuit anyway, despite the exclusion form. That's why the companies that ARE giving you the exclusion, charge more for their coverage. The EASY way out of this, is to change the title from your uncle to you. Leader Infinity WILL allow an operator exclusion form. I believe Progressive changed their rules, to only allow a non-licensed operator to be excluded - they were having too many claims from licensed, excluded operators.

Someone hit my park car and insurance companies responsibilities?

Question: last night some one hit my car (major damage). the insurance company said they will fix my car. My question is my car never had been damage before but now its gonna show up in the Carfax when i resell my car. will insurance company give me any money since resell value is low because of the accident ?

Answer: your talking about diminished value which is at a later point when you go to sell a damaged vehicle if you can prove to the insurance company the diminished value when you plan to sell your vehicle you can get reimbursed for this. Its an uphill battle so get started now find out what your vehicle is worth within 100 miles or so of your local area by checking local want ads in newspapers and even online in autotrader publications then figure out what the diminished value is and present it to the insurance company and hope they agree with it. If you had a plan in mind to sell the vehicle prior to this accident and prove this is what you planned to do in 2 or 3 years or when ever then start from there.
