Major Car Insurance CompaniesForum - Questions & AnswersShould the major car insurance companies have an illegal immigrant clause ?Question: Everytime they crash into someones car, they always get away with it and their victim usually end up footing the bill. I've seen them get away with accidents more than once. Belleza, you're funny.Answer: While your concerns are heard, as everyone has pointed out the situation is basically covered in our system of veh. insurance. The thing not mentioned, is that our insurance RATES are high as a kite due to the inordinate numbers of people who are driving, doing damage and having no insurance. Hmmmmm, wonder who these people who are? I recently had about $1000 worth of prop damage done by what turned out to be an illegal. He hit and ran of course. But through some slick, dick detective work I found him. When the police confronted him, he lied and then finally admitted his wrong doing. With me insisting, they impounded his unregistered car, he was unlicensed and uninsured. With pressure on him going to jail, I got him to pay about $300. When I called my insurance rep, she told me not to file a claim as it was likely my rates would go up even higher. In the last 3 years my ins. rates (property) have gone up 20-30% yearly each year. I have never had any claims. Course this increase is likely due to Katrina disaster but still the agent assured me, the Ins. folks are getting creamed on illegal caused, uninsured motorist accidents. (Then there are the deaths. We've all heard more people die at the hands of Illgal immigrants daily in the US ...than in the Iraq war.) Compliments mostly of lllegal visitors who simply don't care about the rest of us. And we foolishly allow this to continue at our own peril. ![]() Do Major car insurance companies charge more for insurance if the car color is red?Question: so im really looking forward to purchasing this really nice honda civic, the color of it isnt a RED RED its more of a dull red, heres the picture of the car: http://i939.photobucket.com/albums/ad233/DannyElek36/44549069.jpg but the only thing im worried is about my insurance, some people say the color does not matter, its your driving record, and personal stuff, and some say just because of the color the insurance rises. but most people say its just the history of the car and your driving record. and what i meant by major insurance companies are AAA, State Farm, ALL State, etc. Thank youAnswer: Red has no effect on your insurance, but there are a lot of other things that do affect it like the age of your car, how much it costs, your age, gender, occupation, and tons of other things. There is a full guide on things that affect your car insurance rate at http://MasterMoneySaver.com if you want to check it out. ![]() Is there a list of rankings of top car insurance companies? What is a good car insurance company?Question: I'm shopping for car insurance and want to look for reviews of all the major companies out there. I want competitive prices, but good customer service is top priority, such as not trying to find a way out of paying me if I have an accident and not raising my rates without my knowledge like some companies are rumored to do.Answer: Look, very few companies try to "find a way out of paying you". All those stories you hear, are about people who tried to find a way to trick a lower rate out of the insurance company, and they got caught. It doesn't HAPPEN that way. Not all insurance companies write in all states. No one ranks them, by "good", as it's SO subjective. But you CAN check with your state insurance department website, to see which companies have the most COMPLAINTS. In general, State Farm writes the MOST auto insurance policies in the USA, and has the lowest PERCENTAGE of complaints. I also think that USAA does a bang up job, but you have to be active military or police, or retired military, or child of a retired military person, to qualify. ![]() Car Insurance Companies + Excluding Drivers?Question: My brother and I are trying to get insurance for our two cars but are having a problem with one of the cars. My uncle gave me my car but we never dealt with switching over the title of the car. Most of the major insurance companies require that the cars be under the name of one of us. We have found some smaller companies that do an exclusion to deal with the problem but the rates are higher. Does any body know of any major company that allows this to happen? Thanks for the help. One of the problems about changing the titles is that he now lives in wyoming and we dont have much contact with him. Can i mail him a form which he can sign or does he need to physically be there to change the title? thanks for the help.Answer: No, most companies won't allow a driver exclusion form. They're afraid that they'll be dragged into a lawsuit anyway, despite the exclusion form. That's why the companies that ARE giving you the exclusion, charge more for their coverage. The EASY way out of this, is to change the title from your uncle to you. Leader Infinity WILL allow an operator exclusion form. I believe Progressive changed their rules, to only allow a non-licensed operator to be excluded - they were having too many claims from licensed, excluded operators. ![]() |
